Concorso internazionale Sol d'Oro

In February Verona becomes the capital of extra virgin olive oil by hosting an international olive oil competition which aims to promote the best extra virgin olive oils.

Sol d'Oro Northern Hemisphere is the most authoritative olive oil event among blind tasting competitions, organized annually in Verona to recognize and celebrate the best extra virgin olive oils.
The competition has now established itself as a showcase of excellence and brings together producers, experts and enthusiasts from all over the world to share, discover and promote authentic quality.
The oils are divided into categories, evaluated and awarded by an international jury.
To guarantee maximum impartiality, each tasting is carried out with blind tasting in separate booths.

The history of Sol d'Oro has its roots back in the early 1990s, with the Golden Lion, the event that laid the foundations for a competition that today welcomes the best extra virgin olive oils from the Mediterranean, the United States, from China, Japan and the Southern Hemisphere.

Sol d'Oro Northern Hemisphere is held in Verona as a preview of Sol2EXPO, the international exhibition of extra virgin olive oil and agri-food excellence, while Sol d'Oro Southern Hemisphere moves annually to a producing country in the south of the world to celebrate the production of the other half of the globe.
