The area where the Church of San Giorgio stands has been inhabited since Roman times, and the place of worship is probably of Lombard foundation. In a sales document from 1110, the Pieve of San Giorgio was described as archpriestly, with its construction dating back to a period prior to the 13th century.
In 1910, the adjacent chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes was also built.
The interior of the church is in Corinthian style; it consists of a single nave with an apse, where the main altar and six side chapels are located. Along the nave, there are six altars dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, Saint John Nepomucene, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and Saint Joseph.
The frescoes of the church were created later in 1898 and depict: God the Father, the Divine Redeemer, and Saint Joseph with the flowering rod above the apse; Faith represented as an allegory with the cross and the chalice, and around it the symbols of the four Evangelists, the three Archangels, and the Guardian Angel concerning the fresco above the choir; the Last Supper in the choir next to the Gospel. Finally, the fresco on the church ceiling depicts the glory of the Martyr Saint George.
The large central altarpiece located at the back of the choir, created in the 17th century by Sante Creara, represents Saint George on horseback slaying the dragon, with the Madonna, Saint Charles Borromeo, and Saint Francis above.
