The first church in Veronella already existed in the 14th century. In 1388, the Bishop of Vicenza appointed a rector, establishing the parish of San Giovanni Battista, which was associated with a "hospitale," that was, a hospice to welcome the poor and pilgrims. In 1466, the Counts Serego asked Bishop Barbo for the right of patronage, which they maintained until the end of World War II.
The facade is neoclassical and features two pairs of Ionic columns supporting a triangular pediment, at the vertices of which are placed the statues of Saints Giovanni Battista, Gaetano Thiene, and Pancrazio. Between the columns, there are two niches with statues of San Sebastiano and San Rocco, while in the center is the large coat of arms of the Counts Serego. The portal is topped by a lunette with a sculptural group depicting the Immaculate Conception and two seated angels.
Inside, the side altars are dedicated to the Madonna del Rosario, San Gaetano Thiene, both with statues dating from the 20th century, to the Madonna del Carmine, and to San Giuseppe.
The most important paintings here include the Annunciation attributed to the school of Brusasorzi (16th century) and the Virgin with San Rocco, San Sebastiano, and other saints by the painter Dal Bianco, dated to 1782. In the apse, the painter Resi painted the Good Shepherd in 1961, while the altarpiece in the apse depicts the Baptism of Jesus and was commissioned by brothers Federico and Antonio Serego to the painter Galluzzi in 1586.
