With great enthusiasm, the official preview of the prestigious literary festival Soave Città del Libro, now in its 12th edition, kicks off with “Aspettando Soave Città del Libro”, organized by the association Soave Cultura, chaired by Luigino Mericiani, in collaboration with Comune di Soave, Pro Loco, Camera di Commercio di Verona, and Destination Verona Garda.
Two special events will immediately take us into the heart of the stories, ideas, and emotions that will animate the entire event, scheduled from May 22 to 25, 2025, in the beautiful setting of the village of Soave, with the great names of literature to be revealed shortly.
As tradition dictates, the festival confirms itself as an unmissable appointment for all lovers of culture and literature, with meetings, presentations, workshops, and shows in one of the most enchanting walled cities in Italy.
The first appointment: Saturday, May 10, 2025
The Courtyard of Palazzo del Capitano (in case of bad weather, the event will move to the Sala Garribba, in Piazza dell’Antenna) will host a truly intense evening:
• At 9:00 PM, Luca Ricolfi, a renowned sociologist and writer, will take the stage to present his book “Il follemente corretto.” A work that offers a courageous and contrarian reflection on the themes of social inclusion, education, politics, and new cultural powers, denouncing how often, in the name of inclusivity, new forms of exclusion and marginalization are fostered.
• At 10:00 PM, it will be the turn of the writer Paola Mastrocola, who will present her latest novel “Il dio del fuoco.” The book tells the epic story of Hephaestus, the fallen, excluded, and mocked god, who through work and ingenuity brings new cities and a new humanity to life. A great literary fresco that speaks of exclusion, resilience, and creation.
Both meetings will be free and without reservation.
The second appointment: Wednesday, May 21, 2025
A few days before the official start of the festival, another major event:
• At 6:00 PM, also at the Courtyard of Palazzo del Capitano (or Sala Garribba in case of rain), the President of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia will present his book “Autonomia – The Necessary Revolution.”
A work that speaks directly to citizens, with a simple and immediate style, addressing the theme of regional autonomy as “the mother of all reforms.” The book narrates Zaia's long political battle for greater accountability for territories and for a more efficient Italy that is closer to the needs of local communities.
Again, entry will be free and no reservation is required.
