A journey in thirteen stops, as many as the months of the lunar calendar characteristic of matriarchal civilizations, to tell the life and imagination of an artist who has become a pop icon of the contemporary. At the Teatro Ristori, from May 30 to October 11, 2026, a new immersive experience signed by Massimiliano Siccardi and Luca Longobardi and Vittorio Guidotti is ready to captivate the audience.
It is Frida Kahlo - A Revolutionary Life, a dream dedicated to the most famous artist of Mexico; a journey from her roots at La Casa Azul to her revolutionary spirit, in a journey rich in suggestions through the identity and imagination of a global icon.
The images, created with mixed techniques, range from hand drawing to artificial intelligence, depicting an extraordinary visual poem that unfolds in a powerful kinetic fresco, capable of returning to the audience that collection of folk art, surrealism, mysticism, and magical realism that characterize the creative source to which Frida Kahlo drew, well represented in the incredible revealing series of self-portraits.
The experience begins with the Journey into the reflected world, in which Frida's words are interpreted “life flows and opens paths that are not traversed in vain”, and then continues Through the city and opens up to The encounter, Diego’s world. With A revealing breath, we relive the imaginative fantasy with which young Frida, confined to bed by polio, opened a “door” to the outside world by breathing on the glass of the window and drawing a passage with her finger, while in Roots (the ancient civilizations) we traverse the universe of archetypal symbols that invigorate Frida’s art, culminating in the agreement between masculine and feminine in Marriage (the dressing of the Goddess). Then the Revolution and the contradictory north American experience of Los Estados Unidos burst in. The blinding gaze precedes with its light the world of darkness of the Dance macabre (dreams and nightmares), which together become A life on stage. The Dream of the wounded deer (lost in her world) perhaps foreshadows the most important episode in Kahlo’s life, finally represented in Frida lives (the tram), the last stop of this ideal lunar year which at its end determines its own beginning: an almost fatal accident that, breaking a life, triggers a powerful creative impulse.
A gaze supported by the sound of notes from a music that spans eras and languages: from Gracias a la vida by Violeta Parra performed by Gabriella Ferri to the Ave Maria sung by Mina, from the reinterpretation of Stand by me by Florence + the Machine (Benjamin Nelson, Jerry Leiber, and Mike Stoller) to La vie en rose by Edith Piaf sung live by Madonna to original pieces Mi Pais or Aura.
The immersive experience is available from Monday to Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., while from Friday to Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
