The Natural History Museum hosts an unmissable temporary exhibition focused on Hidden Glaciers: Life in Ice Caves, the last glacial reserves in the Venetian Prealps.
The exhibition, curated by Leonardo Latella and Roberta Salmaso, is dedicated to one of the least known environments in the world: glaciers found within natural cavities.
Ice deposits, not only those on the surface but also the lesser-known ones located inside some caves, are at risk of completely disappearing within a few years, along with the irreparable loss of historical data on climate, environmental conditions, and the life they host.
The Natural History Museum, in collaboration with some speleological groups, has begun studying the ecology and fauna of ice caves in the Alps and Pre-Alps, creating the first comprehensive biological research on this type of environment in Italy.
Underground glacial environments are illustrated with 20 photographic images, videos, scale models of some species that inhabit these environments, real specimens, and research objects.
Admission to the exhibition will be included in the museum ticket price.
