New series of guided tours of the Library for the month of December.
The initiative continues the project of enhancement and enjoyment of what, to date, holds the record and pride of being the oldest functioning library in the world.
With a treasure of over 1200 manuscripts, 245 incunables, 2500 works from the 16th century, 2800 from the 17th century, and another 70,000 volumes along with illustrious visitors in its past, the Capitolare has survived earthquakes, plagues, Napoleon's plundering, the flood of 1882, and bombs.
In December, guided tours will take place on the following dates:
- Saturday 6th and Saturday 13th at 3:00 PM,
- Sunday 14th and Sunday 21st at 11:00 AM
- Friday 12th at 11:00 AM will also include a tour in English
The visit begins in the canonical cloister, and then moves to the Library, with its majestic monumental hall and new exhibition spaces.
During the tour, some manuscripts and original printed texts will be visible.
