Hairspray - The Broadway Musical

It stops for a unique, unmissable evening in the enchanting setting of the Teatro Nuovo in Verona "Hairspray - The Broadway Musical" by director, choreographer, and producer Denny Lanza, who has always been fascinated by the powerful message of the original work.

Based on the 1988 musical by John Waters, "Hairspray - The Musical" debuted on Broadway in 2002. In 2007, the work was brought back to the big screen by Adam Shankman, starring Zac Efron, John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Christopher Walken. 

Set in Baltimore in 1962, the show follows the story of Tracy Turnblad, an overweight teenager whose greatest dream is to participate in the famous television program "The Corny Collins Show." And when the opportunity finally presents itself, Tracy manages to get into the cast thanks to her grit and talent. She then becomes a symbol of change and, after befriending some members of the city's Black community, also a valuable ally in the fight against racial prejudice.

Alongside its strong social message, "Hairspray" also vibrantly tells the everyday world of teenagers: a world full of friendships, sudden crushes, rivalries, jealousies, and dreams that sometimes come true.
