This year marks the anniversary of the museum's inauguration, which took place a hundred years ago on April 25, 1926, in the presence of King Vittorio Emanuele III.
The Castelvecchio Museum celebrates its first century of life (1926–2026) with a program of initiatives that intertwine memory, innovation, and vision for the future: an important milestone for one of Verona's most beloved and iconic places, where the medieval history of the Scaligeri has been dialoguing for a century with masterpieces of Italian and European art.
The celebrations take shape through concrete interventions in the spaces and the visiting experience: from the new lighting proposal in the Mantegna Hall to the arrival of illustrious loans, from thematic paths to planned restorations, from the rearrangement of the rooms to archaeological investigations, the centenary is also an opportunity to open new perspectives on the heritage, with cultural activities, guided tours, educational initiatives, and moments of encounter that will enliven the museum throughout 2026, to experience the first hundred years of Castelvecchio not as a destination point, but as a premise for a new beginning.
