The event La Befana del Vigile, organized by Società Cooperativa Sociale “Al Calmiere” and the local police, returns to Piazza Bra on January 6th, 2024.
A historical re-visitation of the difficult post-war years that helps to collect food and gifts to redistribute to needy children, and at the same time to recognize the commitment of the local police service of the city.
From 10.45 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. the historic cars participating in the event will transit from Piazza San Zeno along the way to Piazza Bra.
La Befana del Vigile is a widespread tradition in many police stations in large cities. Born in the post-war period, it consisted in bringing a gift to the guard on the platform according to availability, generally food, such as a pandoro or a box of potatoes, but also household appliances and other objects, as evidenced by photos in the historical archives of the local Police.
