The Veronese Theatre Summer returns to fill the Roman Theatre with great Italian and international music.
As part of the "musical contaminations" series, what began in 2005 as an experiment returns to the stage, evolving into one of the most characteristic formations that today defines the "Sound of Europe".
Sardinian trumpeter Paolo Fresu, French accordionist Richard Galliano, and Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren tell musical stories through “Mare Nostrum,” narratives from the most northern to the southernmost points of the continent.
The trio combines their influences, ranging from folk, classical, and popular music to the freedom of jazz.
The three musicians have very different characters and cultural backgrounds, but in this trio, they have developed a sort of alliance and a deep artistic symbiosis. Considering that the future of jazz can only be secured by openness to other musical cultures, the trio acts by merging and presenting a surprising ensemble of themes from various origins.
French song by Charles Trenet, traditional Swedish pieces, the tango of Astor Piazzolla, Italian Baroque by Monteverdi, works by Quincy Jones, as well as original themes, especially composed for special occasions, culminate in a captivating sonic experience.
