On the occasion of World Theatre Day, the doors of the Filarmonico open to let the public discover spaces and rooms where the arts and crafts of staging are born. On Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, at 10 AM and 11:30 AM, it will be possible to participate for free in guided tours of the Theatre.
During the guided tours, the audience is taken to discover well-known and lesser-known spaces of the Filarmonico Theatre, its collections, the secrets of the stage and behind the scenes, where the artistic and technical teams of the Foundation are formed all year round, before and after the Arena Festival. For everyone, a unique and unmissable opportunity to discover a gem in the heart of the city of Verona.
World Theatre Day has been celebrating the cultural, social, and ethical role of theatre and the performing arts since 1962, entrusting each year a reflection to a master of contemporary stage. For 2026, the message comes from actor and director Willem Dafoe, Artistic Director of the Venice Biennale Theatre: «In a world that seems to become increasingly divisive, authoritarian, and violent, our challenge as theatrical creators is to prevent the corruption of theatre into a mere commercial enterprise, dedicated to entertainment through distraction, or into a dry institutional custodian of traditions, but rather our challenge is to promote its strength to connect peoples, communities, cultures and above all to question where we are going…» (source: MiC, 5 /3/2026).
