In view of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, the University of Verona promotes a series of meetings on sports, culture, science, and cinema that offer opportunities for in-depth study, discussion, and dissemination.

Telling sports: from Homer to Federer, the gesture that becomes epic.
Paolo Maggioni in Verona: a slalom among the giants of sports literature.
Exact two weeks before the opening ceremony of Milan Cortina 2026, the RAI journalist will meet students and the public in dialogue with Prof. Valentina Moro, Director of the Department of Human Sciences, and Prof. Federico Schena, President of the University Olympic Games Commission.

Through institutional contributions and concrete experiences, the conference will analyze the impact of the Games on the territory and the Region, highlighting how sponsorship, partnerships, and public-private synergies can transform a global sporting event into a driver of sustainable growth.

The medicine and science of sport in the service of Olympic events
The meeting addresses the role of medicine and scientific research in protecting the health of athletes, operators, and the public.
With the moderation of Alfredo Guglielmi, President of the Order of Doctors of Verona, and Luca Dalle Carbonare, Director of the Specialization School in Sports Medicine of the university, speakers will include university professors Enrico Polati, Federico Schena, and Chiara Zoppirolli.

The journalist Giorgio Vincenzi will discuss with Antonella Stelitano, sports historian and co-author of "The Women of Cortina 1956," Maria Rosa Quario, former Olympic skier (1980 and 1984) and mother of Federica Brignone, author of "Two Lives," and Francesca Porcellato, Paralympic athlete, gold medalist in Vancouver, author of "The Flying Red."

The many faces of medals. The Winter Olympics in cinema
A series of film screenings that aims to show the different dimensions of sports, not only consisting of victories but above all of challenges, with others and with oneself, of dreams, friendships, and also of defeats.
It starts on February 19 with “Downhill Racer” (1969), on February 26 “Miracle” (2004) will be screened, on March 5 “Eddie The Eagle” (2015) will be shown, ending on March 12 with “Rising Phoenix” (2020).
