A story of love and blood, two young people from completely different worlds, and the disputes between two gangs vying for dominance over the Upper West Side neighborhood: the Jets, a group of white natives led by Riff, and the Sharks, Puerto Rican immigrants captained by Bernardo.
A dance was the catalyst, where Tony, who works at Doc's drugstore, meets Maria, Bernardo's sister, who has just arrived from Puerto Rico to marry Chico, whom she does not love, as she confides to Anita, her future sister-in-law, while preparing to sew her dress for the party.
A glance during the dances ignites Bernardo's jealousy, upset by the fact that his sister is dancing with one of the Jets. Annoyed, he sends Maria home, but Tony follows her.
With the help of the night and a balcony, love blossoms between Tony and Maria, impossible for everyone but not for their hearts.
West Side Story is an immortal work, told on the stage of the Roman Theater by a cast of over 30 artists and two young protagonists, Luca Gaudiano as Tony and Natalia Scarpolini as Maria.
The show translates into an extraordinary fusion of drama, music, and dance, set against the colorful atmospheres of the 1950s and the unforgettable pieces of Bernstein's soundtrack performed by the great live Orchestra.
