World Rugby U20 Championship

Verona hosts for the first time in July the matches of the Under 20 Rugby World Championship, alongside the cities of Viadana, Calvisano, and Rovigo, from June 29 to July 19, 2025.

The Under 20 Rugby World Championship (known as the IRB Junior World Championship until 2014) is an annual international rugby union competition for 15 players. The event features the participation of 12 junior men's national teams with an age requirement of under 20 years. This event replaced the previous IRB age-category World Championships, Under 19 and Under 21.

The 2025 edition, organized by the International Rugby Federation and known as Italy 2025, is the third edition to be held in the beautiful country after the 2011 and 2015 editions. For this 15th edition, the group stage will take place on June 29, July 4, and July 9, 2025. The knockout stages will begin on July 14, while the final will be held on July 19, 2025, at the Mario Battaglini Stadium in Rovigo.

On the first match day, the reigning champions England face Scotland, making their debut after winning the 2024 World Rugby Under-20 Trophy, overcoming the United States in the final. At 18:00, the world runners-up France challenge Spain, who are participating for the second time. The day concludes with a match between the South American champions Argentina, who finished 5th last year, and Wales.

On the third day, Wales faces Spain, while England returns to the Payanini Center to challenge Australia, the finalist of the 12th edition. The last match of the day at 20:30 is between France and Argentina, for a spot in the semifinals.

At the end of the round-robin matches, Verona will host on July 14 the placement matches between the 6th and 7th placed teams and between the 9th and 12th placed teams.
