XI Theatre Season of Fucina Culturale Machiavelli

We can know what happens overseas, we can follow the live broadcast from a flotilla of boats in the Mediterranean, hour by hour. We can empathize with so many people, but one feeling, typed by many hands, prevails over the others: the sense of impotence. Because, if many citizens in the world are raising their voices to shout together the absurdity of war, why are these voices not seen in the actions of those who govern us? Why does it always seem that there are other inscrutable interests that overlap the common good? Why is humanity unable to honor the international conventions of humanity and respect for rights that it has equipped itself with? 

Yet, we are not powerless. Our gaze upon the world can change the world. In fact, we could say that the first step to change it is to see it. And to feel it.

The second is to want it. 

A theater is truly the right place to observe, listen to voices, stories, and people. To do it live, with a different rhythm, stopping the scrolling, sharing, dissenting, even getting angry, but without feeling powerless. Perhaps, for once, we can draw our passions from the shared source that Edgar Allan Poe wrote about. Our gaze, our listening, our presence are powerful. They can tap into a common source of art and beauty. They can create new worlds.
