Riding your mountain bike on the trails of Durello means immersing yourself in a very varied territory, between world-renowned prehistoric finds like the fossils of Bolca, and testimonies of the Serenissima Republic like the two pillars topped by the Lions of Venice in Cattignano. But not only that.
The circular route crosses an area of rare beauty, climbing from the Val d’Alpone, surpassing 860 meters in altitude through the high pastures of Lessinia, right in the heart of the Regional Park, among hamlets, villages, near alpine dairies and shelters.
Descending on a circular trail that skirts steep hills covered with vineyards, where Durella grows, the native grape variety of the Lessini Mountains, an ancient and rustic vine - confirmed in these mountains at least since the Middle Ages - whose greatest expression in oenological terms is the Lessini Durello DOC sparkling wine.
Nature bursts forth around the path, offering unforgettable glimpses, promising flavors of honey, chestnuts, cheeses, and olive oil.
We recommend ending the excursion with a visit to the Columnar Basalts in S. Giovanni Ilarione, a scenic rock wall formed 45 million years ago.
