The fascinating rooms of Palazzo Miniscalchi host within their evocative atmosphere the exhibition titled "A princess at the Palace. Marianna Erizzo ".
The exhibition “A princess at the Palace. Marianna Erizzo,” hosted at the Miniscalchi-Erizzo Museum and curated by Giovanna Residori and Alessandra Zamperini, is dedicated to Marianna Erizzo, the last heir of an ancient branch of the Venetian patriciate.
Her life intertwines with the profound political and social changes between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, marked by the end of the Republic of Venice and the closening ties between the Venetian and Veronese nobility. The marriage to Luigi Miniscalchi in 1808 represented the symbol of this new historical phase.
The exhibition presents the story of a noblewoman who remained in the shadows for a long time, whose biography reflects the decline of the Serenissima and the crisis of the Venetian aristocracy. The last heir of her family branch, Marianna Erizzo moved to Verona following her marriage to Luigi Miniscalchi. A woman of high cultural and social capital, she put her education at the service of the welcoming house, expanding its relationships and prestige beyond the city limits.
The exhibition aims to restore visibility to this female figure, offering an overview of daily splendor, fashion, and historical changes of the nineteenth century.
Through documents, works of art, objects, and archival testimonies, the exhibition portrays Marianna as a cultured, elegant woman active in family and social life. The exhibition also deepens the connection between Marianna and the museum's collections,
enriched by the legacy of the Erizzo family, and presents a section dedicated to women's fashion between the Napoleonic era and the Restoration, illustrating the evolution of taste and the value of fashion as an expression of social and cultural identity.
The exhibition is open to the public from Friday to Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
