In the 104th edition of the Verona Arena Opera Festival, Aida returns to the stage in the revolutionary "crystal" production, created and curated for the direction, sets, and costumes by the multifaceted artist Stefano Poda.
The masterpiece by Giuseppe Verdi about the Ethiopian princess enslaved in Egypt, with transparencies, unprecedented light effects, and rich symbolism suspended between Ancient Egypt and contemporary art, will be performed for 5 shows, from August 12 to September 8, 2027. A multifaceted and modern staging, capable of speaking to everyone, balancing classic Egyptian iconography with the stylistic innovations of Paco Rabanne, Roberto Capucci, and Damien Hirst.
Composed in 1869 on the occasion of the inauguration of the Suez Canal, Aida by Giuseppe Verdi tells the love story of the young Aida, daughter of the king of Ethiopia but made a slave in the service of Amneris, daughter of the Pharaoh of Egypt. In love (and loved in return) with the valiant Radamès, betrothed to Amneris, Aida will follow him to a tragic death, demonstrating her love and loyalty.
Performances: 12, 22, 28 August at 9:00 p.m. - 2, 8 September at 9:00 p.m.
