Art Nouveau Week

The appointment with Art Nouveau Week is renewed, the worldwide event dedicated to the Liberty style and the arts of the early twentieth century, promoted by Italia Liberty and curated by Andrea Speziali with a scientific and honorary committee.

The theme of this eighth edition is The Sea:  a symbolic and decorative element that runs through the entire Liberty season: from shells sculpted on facades to floral motifs inspired by waves, to the beach culture that contributed to the birth of the grand architectures of the Belle Époque.

The extensive program includes numerous online conferences, guided tours with licensed guides  and meetings curated by expert Andrea Speziali.

In over 300 cities around the world involved in the initiative, guided tours are planned with extraordinary access to villas and palaces that are usually closed to the public.

Verona participates in the event with “Hidden Liberty. Walk among the Veronese buildings”: a guided walk to discover the Liberty decorations in the neighborhood entirely dedicated to this style, between Piazza Vittorio Veneto and via Goffredo Mameli.

The route starts from Ponte Garibaldi, formerly Neville Bridge, in front of the statue of Cesare Lombroso and ends at Villa Rossi Pavesi, a large residence with a garden that marks the transition, in the 1930s, from the Liberty taste to the return to Neoclassicism.
