The Municipality of Verona, the Civic Museums - Achille Forti Modern Art Gallery, and the Fondazione Cariverona present CHIMERA. Novello Finotti, the first event of the new exhibition format Materia | Volumes in Dialogue, hosted in the historic Sala delle Vasche on the ground floor of Palazzo Forti.
Kicking off the new cycle is an exhibition dedicated to Novello Finotti, one of the foremost interpreters of contemporary Italian sculpture. A Veronese artist of recognized international stature, Finotti has developed an
original and immediately recognizable language throughout a long career, where extraordinary technical skill merges with an inexhaustible inventive capacity. His research is based on the continuous metamorphosis of form, where classical memory, symbolic suggestions, and contemporary sensitivity coexist in a balance suspended between reality and vision. In his works, the tradition of grand sculpture dialogues with imagination, giving life to figures that weave together everyday life and dreams, corporeality and transformation, harmony and unease.
The title of the exhibition, CHIMERA, evokes the creature from ancient mythology born from the union of different beings, which over time has become a symbol of complexity, imagination, and the tension towards what escapes every univocal definition.
The chimera, by nature a hybrid and mutable figure, represents a privileged key to understanding Finotti's work, in which seemingly irreconcilable elements merge into a poetic synthesis capable of transforming matter into narrative and form into a continuous possibility of metamorphosis.
