Promoted by the Intra Omnes association, the first edition of the D.E.I. Festival - Diversity, Equity, Inclusion - will take place on Saturday, November 22, and Sunday, November 23. The festival aims to compare three cultural symbols of the city with three authoritative figures in Italian journalism, and to foster dialogue, citizenship workshops, and meetings.
The first guest on Saturday, November 22, at 10:30 AM at the Società Letteraria di Verona, is Lucia Goracci, correspondent and head of the Rai office in Istanbul, currently a reporter for Tg3, in dialogue with Don Luca Passarini, Director of Verona Fedele. The central theme of the "Diversity" section will be the Meeting on Wars, particularly in the Middle East, drawing on the journalist’s twenty years of experience, telling the stories of those who, in conflict zones, experience difference as vulnerability but also as strength.
The second guest on Saturday, at 3:30 PM at the National Archaeological Museum - San Tomaso, is Tiziana Ferrario in dialogue with the editor-in-chief of L'Arena, Luca Mantovani. A Milanese journalist specializing in foreign politics and a correspondent from New York, she has covered wars and humanitarian crises from Afghanistan to the Middle East to Africa. In the "Equity" section, the focus of the meeting will be on social inequality, particularly centered on women's rights, a theme dear to Ferrario.
For the "Inclusion" section, journalist Gad Lerner will present his book "Gaza" on Sunday, November 23, at the Capitol Library in dialogue with Monsignor Bruno Fasani, Prefect of the Library. Lerner, born in Beirut but raised in Milan, explores the boundaries of identity and coexistence in his writing, having made pluralism his stylistic hallmark.
Free admission until seats are filled.
