The cello of Giovanni Sollima, in the triple role of soloist, conductor, and composer, will lead I Virtuosi Italiani on a journey through works of Mozartian and Haydn genius, as well as compositions by Sollima himself.
Giovanni Sollima, a cellist and composer from Palermo, is a virtuoso who transforms sound into a universal language, combining baroque and “metal” with Mediterranean rhythms and Italian lyricism.
He has collaborated with artists from dance, theater, and cinema, founded the project of 100 cellos, and recorded for international labels.
The Sicilian musician, who teaches at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, plays a Ruggeri from 1679.
The concert is produced in collaboration with the Festival Mozart in Verona and features a program with music by W. A. Mozart, F. J. Haydn, G. Sollima.
