At the Teatro Nuovo, one of the most beloved ballets of the classical repertoire: Cinderella.

 

One of the timeless masterpieces of the 19th-century dance history, choreographed by Marius Petipa and scored by Tchaikovsky, in this spectacular and emotional performance brought on tour by the National Romanian Opera Theatre of Iasi, one of the most acclaimed classical dance companies, which has been touring across Europe for over 24 years.

 

The legendary love between Cinderella and the Prince; the birth and blossoming of human emotions, the obstacles, and the fulfillment of their dream. In Prokofiev's music, one can perceive all the traits of the sweet dreamer Cinderella, her shy father, the scheming stepmother, the capricious stepsisters, and the fervent young Prince, in a way that leaves the audience emotionally engaged with their joys and sorrows. The dance is joyful, lively, sparkling, and poetic, and the Romanian Opera Ballet presents us with an ever-sweeter and more dreamlike Cinderella: the glass slipper disappears; instead, the Prince searches for a girl with a pure foot – which, upon closer inspection, is also the dancer's strength, from which they draw power, balance, and elevation. The girl, guided by the memory of her mother, embarks on her own journey in search of her identity and love.

 

Cinderella is not just a character from fairy tales –said Prokofiev– She is above all a creature that throbs, invoking emotion and tenderness. Everything perfectly interpreted by the Romanian State Ballet of Iasi creates an atmosphere in which one is cradled in the esoteric dream of a fairy-tale set designed by Evgeni Gurenko from "One Thousand and One Nights"….
