Il Calamaro Gigante

Based on the novel of the same name by Fabio Genovesi, the show follows the surreal and visionary adventure of the protagonist Angela, played by Angela Finocchiaro, and her stage companion, Bruno Stori, in search of a legendary creature. 

Angela is dissatisfied with her life: the dreams and passions that once made her heart race have long been set aside to follow the path imposed by family and society. In particular, while returning to Milan for a work dinner, she finds herself stuck in traffic due to vacationers returning from the sea. Angela then begins to curse those people and the sea they are coming back from, when suddenly she is overwhelmed by an impossible wave that takes her out of the world and space. There, she meets Montfort, who comes from another country and another century, and with whom she shares only the uncertainty of how they ended up in that place. Together, they embark on a long and incredible journey that will lead them to eccentric characters, sailors, dreamer kids, and girls who stop walking to avoid stepping on ants; all united by having believed in the existence of the legendary Giant Squid.

The show is aimed at an audience of all ages with its motivational and educational message: it is a hymn to never giving up, to believing in one’s dreams and in oneself; it seeks to raise awareness of environmental issues without being catastrophic, instead telling the wonders that live in the oceans and the beauty of the nature that surrounds us.
