Homer's epic poem sings of a world dominated by the Gods, the cause of everything but without guilt, who are the only ones capable of making decisions and dragging men into a long and terrible war without winners or losers. Humans, in fact, do not yet have consciousness and freedom of choice; they must wait for the age of Tragedy to know personal responsibility and disentangle themselves from the absolute authority of the deities.
It is an archaic reality, distant from ours, dominated by force, inescapable Fate, and capricious Gods, while our lives are dominated by fear, desire for wealth, obsession with the enemy, power games, and destructive forces that lead to irrationality and war.
However, as often happens with great poetry, alongside dismay and destruction, the opposite also emerges: responsibility and the freedom to choose, to oppose, to say no to horror.
Ten years after its inception, following The Duelists and Don Quixote, Quadrivio, formed by Roberto Aldorasi, Alessio Boni, Francesco Niccolini, and Marcello Prayer, rewrites and stages the Iliad to reflect on the oldest myths of Western poetry and the war of all wars.
