From June 27 to August 2, 2025, for a total of six performances, the 102nd Arena di Verona Opera Festival features La Traviata, returning to the Arena in the version by director Hugo De Ana, with sets and costumes that pay tribute to the belle époque.
The beautiful courtesan Violetta Valéry is portrayed on stage by sopranos Angel Blue, Rosa Feola, and Nadine Sierra, while tenors Galeano Salas, Enea Scala, and Dmitry Korchak play the role of the young Alfredo Germont.
The three-act opera by Giuseppe Verdi, with a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, is set in the bohemian Paris of the late 19th century and tells the love story between the worldly woman Violetta Valery and Alfredo Germont. Under pressure from Alfredo's father, Giorgio, and with no way out, the woman writes a heartbroken letter to Alfredo explaining her longing for beloved Paris. Alfredo, enraged, swears at her in front of everyone, throwing money at her feet. Once he finds out the truth, the man rushes to ask for her forgiveness, but she, sick with tuberculosis, dies after seeing him for the last time.
Performances: June 27 at 9:30 PM - July 5, 11, 19, 25 at 9:15 PM - August 2 at 9:00 PM
