Medieval Women's History at the Castle

On Sunday, April 12th, the walls of the Scaliger Castle of Villafranca in Verona will open for a special day dedicated to medieval cuisine.

It will not be a simple visit, but a true immersion in the vibrant heart of the Middle Ages.

The Compagnia della Ginestra invites you to discover the ancient art of feasting. Forget modern cooking and let yourself be guided by the scent of spices, the crackling of the live fire, and the skilled work of cooks in historical attire.

Faithful Reenactment: observe closely the preparation of authentic dishes, made following the recipes from medieval treatises.

Ancient Knowledge: from hand grinding almonds to working with fresh herbs in the mortar, you will discover the secrets of a cuisine rich in contrasts and forgotten flavors.

Unique Atmosphere: The Scaliger Castle will come to life again among terracotta dishes, decorated jugs, and the charm of everyday life from the past. From aromatic herbs to the famous sweet-and-sour flavor, every detail is carefully curated for a rigorous and captivating historical experience.

For this day, ASD Kubb Italia will also be present with demonstrations of the ancient game.
