Defined by La Repubblica as "The darling of the Italian public," the Turkish tenor Murat Karahan arrives at the Castello Scaligero in Villafranca for a concert-event.
After enchanting theaters around the world, the opera superstar pays tribute to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Maestro Luciano Pavarotti.
Alongside the Maestro, Gledis Gjuzi accompanies on the piano.
Murat Karahan graduated from TED Ankara College. In 1996, he began his studies at Bilkent University, Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, where he studied with Suna Korad, Pekin Kirgiz, and Gurcil Celiktas. He made his debut at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin in 2015 in the role of Alfredo in La Traviata, and subsequently played leading roles in Puccini's La Bohème, Verdi’s La Traviata, and Bizet's Carmen at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
He made his debut at the Arena di Verona in 2016 as Manrico in Il Trovatore and was Calaf in Turandot in 2018. He returned for the 2019 arena festival in the roles of Manrico, Radamès (Aida by Verdi), and Cavaradossi (Tosca). For the 2021 festival, in addition to Calaf and Radamès, he performed Turiddu in Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana.
