The exhibition is organized by the Archaeological Association of Isola della Scala, in collaboration with the Municipality of Isola della Scala.
The exhibition is divided as follows:
- an introductory section with some panels on stilts and the Bronze Age in the Veronese plain;
- a section dedicated to the island pile-dwelling town of Mulino Giarella, dated to the Middle Bronze Age (16th-14th century BC), with some panels, illustrating economic activities, rites and beliefs; this part connects to the windows of the Museum where materials from this town are exhibited
- a section dedicated to the pile-dwelling village of Feniletto di Oppeano, dated to the recent Bronze Age (13th-12th century BC), with a display of the model which reproduces to scale what the village must have been like. The work, created by Angiolino Bellè, is based on data from excavations carried out at the beginning of the twentieth century and is accompanied by illustrative panels and period photos.
Inauguration: Saturday 20 September at 5.00 pm with the presence of the author of the model Angiolino Bellè and Dr. Elisa dalla Longa (Institute of Cultural Heritage Sciences of the National Research Council) who will give a speech on “The Veronese plain in the Bronze Age: ancient communities between lands and rivers”.
Opening: Saturday and Sunday 3.00pm-6.00pm (at other times upon reservation)
For schools, possibility of free guided tours during school hours (by reservation) lasting approximately 1 hour. During the visit the short film “Ancient tracks will be screened. Life in a pile dwelling”, created on behalf of the UNESCO pile-dwelling sites of northern Italy, chronicling life and daily activities in a pile-dwelling village.
