For over half a century, the Fiera del Riso has been the most famous gastronomic event in Italy dedicated to rice and risotto, a symbol of tradition, taste and conviviality. Born in Isola della Scala, a few kilometers from Verona, this great festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over Italy and abroad every year.
Risotto, one of the most beloved dishes of Italian cuisine, offered in over fifty versions, from the most classic to the most creative. It is cooked by Master Risotto Chefs and Chefs from all over Italy and even abroad: authentic ambassadors of taste, capable of transforming every dish into an unforgettable experience.
The undisputed star is Riso Nano Vialone Veronese PGI, the first in Europe to obtain the trademark in 1996. Grown in 24 municipalities of Verona, it has pearly grains, firm and rich in starch: perfect for creamy and tasty risottos. Symbol of the territory, it is protected by a rigorous specification that guarantees its quality and origin.
But the Rice Fair is much more than a gastronomic event: it is entertainment, culture, sport and tradition. Parades in period costumes, concerts, shows for adults and children, sporting competitions and themed meetings enliven the 24 days of celebration. Also not to be missed is the large sample fair, one of the most visited in Northern Italy, with over 100 exhibitors from various Italian and international regions.

Additional infos
The Rice Fair of Isola della Scala, the largest national event in the sector, reaches its 58th edition this year. Born in 1966 from the "garzega," a peasant tradition that celebrated the annual end of the harvest, it has been characterized by the delicious "creation" of the gastronomic emblem of Isola: the recipe for Risotto all'Isolana.
As per tradition, rich food and wine stands will be set up offering local specialties, foremost among them, indeed, the Riso all'isolana. Created by Cav. Pietro Secchiati in 1967, it has become the now traditional recipe that distinguishes this fair from all other popular festivals. Today, the central hub of the culinary event is the Palariso, an architectural structure that recalls the shape of a grain, a true temple of Italian risotto.
It will be possible to taste one of the most appreciated dishes of Italian cuisine in the world, prepared according to recipes that have decades of history. It will be prepared by chefs from abroad and Italy and Master Risotto Chefs who cook risotto at the Fair with the same care and tradition with which they prepare it at home for their families throughout the rest of the year. Many of them have hundreds of thousands of risottos cooked behind them. A unique and unparalleled experience, reflected in the flavors and aromas of their exceptional dishes.
