Santo Natale in Badia

Exhibition of artistic and handmade nativity scenes. Badia Calavena, known for its strong sensitivity towards renewable energy sources, is located in the Val d'Illasi and derives its name from the Benedictine Abbey.

The town, rich in history, architecture, and traditions, has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Badia Calavena owes its name to the Monastery built by the Benedictines, which became a vitally important Abbey for the valley. Inside its chapel in Piazza Mercato, visitors will be able to observe and admire during Advent, and also afterward, the nativity scenes created by artists, artisans, and simple enthusiasts from all over the province of Verona.

The "Natale a Badia" Nativity Scene Exhibition started modestly with about thirty works in 2006, and this year's edition will showcase over 100 works. The goal of this initiative is to create an event that gives many enthusiasts the opportunity to admire beautiful nativity scenes and to visit the enchanting Benedictine Abbey, as well as to allow many artists from our province to be known and appreciated through the exhibition of their works, in a unique and evocative setting like that of the Oratory of the Abbey.
