In the picturesque setting of the Basilica of Santa Anastasia, an evening dedicated to the relationship between Dante Alighieri and Saint Francis of Assisi, and more specifically, to the presence of Francis and Dominic in the Divine Comedy.
The appointment is part of the 20th edition of the international Summer School in Dante Studies, scheduled from August 22 to 27, 2026, between Ravenna and Verona, organized by the University of Verona in collaboration with the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan and the Dante Center of the Conventual Franciscan Friars of Ravenna.
The 2026 edition of the Summer School dedicates its study days to the figure of Saint Francis of Assisi and his relationship with Dante's work, through meetings and in-depth studies entrusted to Italian and international scholars.
The Veronese evening on August 25 takes place in the Dominican basilica of Santa Anastasia and offers a journey through literature, art history, and the interpretation of Dante's text.
The presentations will put Dante's words in dialogue with the historical and artistic heritage of Santa Anastasia, deepening the representation of the two great founders of the mendicant orders and the meaning assigned by the poet to the figure of Francis in Canto XI of the Paradise.
