Just 2 km from Bolca, straddling the provinces of Verona and Vicenza in the easternmost part of the Lessinia Natural Park, lie two of the most renowned Eocene fossil sites in the world: La Pesciara and Monte Postale.
Here, where the rocks tell stories from 50 million years ago, you can embark on a unique adventure that blends science and excitement. Guided tours take you deep into the heart of the mountain along a 100-meter underground path, where the atmosphere is almost otherworldly: a constant temperature of 12°C, high humidity, and the legendary fossil layers that have revealed Bolca’s famous prehistoric fish.
The guided visit lasts about an hour and includes exploration of the historic Pesciara, one of the world’s most important paleontological sites. One of the highlights? Stepping into the shoes of a paleontologist yourself—sift through the earth, split open small rocks and maybe, just maybe, you’ll uncover a fossil of your own!
A perfect activity for both adults and children, easily paired with a visit to the fascinating Fossil Museum of Bolca for a full immersion into Earth’s ancient past.
Discover the magic of prehistory—where time stands still and every rock holds a story.
