Join us on this full-day tour (about 8 hours), discovering one of the lesser-known wine areas of Verona, the morainic hills of southern Lake Garda. This area is not as touristy, so this is the perfect tour if you want to spend a day in a relaxed atmosphere, focused on good wine and centuries-old traditions. Departure is from the Pagus shop at 9.00 a.m., and first, we will reach Custoza, where you will visit 1 local winery and taste at least 4 of their wines. The most famous wine here is Custoza DOC, a blend of local white grapes, perfect for white wine lovers and to cope with the warm summer days. We will then reach Borghetto, a picturesque village overlooking the Mincio River. You will be able to walk through its streets and over the medieval bridge, appreciating enchanting views that you won't be able to resist capturing in a photograph. You will hear the story of the village and the legend that gives rise to the so-called "Love Knot", the local tortellini for which Valeggio is famous. In Borghetto, we will also stop for lunch at 1 local restaurant, where you can taste the flavors of Italian tradition (Valeggio tortellini included!), paired, of course, with more excellent wine! In the early afternoon, we will say goodbye to the hills of Custoza and Borghetto, to return to the city.
We had previously done the Valpolicella tour with Pagus, so this time we chose the Borghetto–Custoza tour on Saturday. Our first stop was the Azienda Agricola Gorgo and it was truly wonderful: Susie showed us the beautiful grounds and then we participated in a wine and olive oil tasting. Their dog, Dracola, followed us throughout the visit. The wine was so good that we bought several bottles, as well as their olive oil (since Dracola, unfortunately, was not for sale).
