Join us on this full-day tour (about 8 hours), discovering one of the lesser-known wine regions of Verona, the morainic hills of southern Lake Garda. This area is not so touristy, so this is the perfect tour if you want to spend a day in a relaxed atmosphere, enjoying good wine and centuries-old traditions. The departure is from the Pagus store at 9.00 a.m., and first we will reach Custoza, where you will visit 1 local winery and taste at least 4 of their wines. The most famous wine here is the Custoza DOC, a blend of local white grapes, perfect for lovers of white wines and to tackle hot summer days. We will then reach Borghetto, a picturesque village overlooking the Mincio River. You can walk through its streets and on the medieval bridge, and appreciate charming views that you won't resist the temptation to capture in a photograph. You will be told the story of the village and the legend that gives rise to the so-called "Love Knot", the local tortellini for which Valeggio is famous. In Borghetto, we will also stop for lunch in 1 local restaurant, where you can savor the flavors of Italian tradition (Valeggio tortellini included!), paired, of course, with more excellent wine! In the early afternoon, we will bid farewell to the hills of Custoza and Borghetto, to return to the city.
We had already done the Valpolicella tour with Pagus in the past, so this time we chose the Borghetto–Custoza tour on Saturday. Our first stop was the Azienda Agricola Gorgo and it was truly wonderful: Susie took us to tour the beautiful grounds and then we participated in a wine and olive oil tasting. Their dog, Dracola, followed us throughout the visit. The wine was so good that we bought several bottles, in addition to their olive oil (since Dracola, unfortunately, was not for sale).
