Starting from the historic Carega district, in the most authentic heart of Verona, an experienced storyteller and member of the traditional game of S-cianco will guide you in rediscovering the cultural roots of the city through tales, gestures, and traditions passed down from generation to generation.
An experience dedicated to those who wish to reconnect with their origins, rediscover the traditions of their ancestors, or get to know the Veronese identity more closely. The protagonist is S-cianco, an ancient popular game that preserves the memory of childhood, street life, and the social life of the past, uniting family memories and collective heritage. Since 2003, this passion has also lived on in Tocatì, the International Festival of Street Games, which transforms the historic center of Verona into a meeting place for cultures and generations, celebrating the universal value of traditional games.
The walk passes through the symbolic places of this story: from the Cortile Mercato Vecchio, home of the first City of Verona Tournament, to Piazza del Duomo, from Ponte Pietra, a key feature of the early editions of Tocatì, to Castel San Pietro, which for years hosted the S-cianco Championship, offering a picturesque view of the city.
The route concludes at the Cortile Mercato Vecchio, where you can cheer for the players of the S-cianco group and personally try this game, discovering its rules, gestures, and passion.
Finally, an aperitif at sunset in the typical Osteria Carega, where it all began, will provide a convivial moment to share stories and memories.
An authentic opportunity to meet the local community and experience a tradition that is still alive.
VERONA ROOTS FESTIVAL: Co-financed project with resources from the National Tourism Fund operating part 2026.
