The Shakespeare Interactive Museum is the first interactive museum dedicated to William Shakespeare. It offers visitors a journey into the life and work of one of the most important authors in European culture, through a unique, immersive, and interactive experience.
It is a highly creative and technology-driven experience, where visitors can personally feel the excitement of interacting—thanks to cutting-edge technologies—with the characters of the tragedy Romeo and Juliet, and attend a theatrical performance in which Juliet recounts her tragic story.
Generative Experience
Part 1:
Introduction and historical context on Shakespeare and Verona, curated by Solimano Pontarollo, Artistic Director of the Shakespeare Interactive Museum and actor/director of the Casa Shakespeare theatre company.
Part 2:
Visitors, in groups of five, are invited to interact with a large screen which, through the use of state-of-the-art cameras, tracks their movements and brings to life the characters of the tragedy: Juliet, Romeo, Tybalt, Mercutio, Lord Capulet, the Nurse, and Benvolio.
Part 3:
Visitors can explore the characters of Juliet and Romeo in greater depth by engaging in dialogue with them, interacting with their images displayed on two interactive monitors, enhanced by immersive audio.
Part 4:
Visitors attend a live performance in which Juliet tells her story, immersed in a 4K virtual scenography depicting the historic locations where the tragedy is set.
Part 5:
The Generative Experience concludes with a free exploration of the immersive space: interact with the souls of Juliet and Romeo and relive the final scene of the story through 360° augmented reality using six VR headsets.
Romeo and Juliet are portrayed by professional actors from the Casa Shakespeare company (performed in Italian).
