San Giovanni Ilarione has a panoramic location situated in the heart of the Val d'Alpone and immersed in a landscape characterized by vast expanses of vineyards, chestnut trees, and cherry trees.
The historical, naturalistic, and panoramic itinerary enjoys splendid views of 360° over the Alpone valley and the Lessini Mountains. It is a circular route that starts from the Church of Santa Caterina and leads to the discovery of the Castle of San Giovanni Ilarione, a place steeped in history where one can contemplate a delightful panorama over the valley.
On the way back to the village, it is possible to admire an extraordinary scenery of nature: a rocky wall that resembles a huge beehive; it is the imposing structure of columnar basalts, formed from the cooling and contracting of lava flows that gave rise to these black and shiny hexagonal prism shapes.
The route is accessible all year round, particularly recommended on the second Sunday of October in conjunction with the traditional and folkloric Chestnut Festival.
