The CAI Lessinia - Section of Bosco Chiesanuova of the Italian Alpine Club was founded in 1977 at the initiative of a group of mountain enthusiasts from the village of Bosco Chiesanuova. The section has always been proud to be the first autonomous section of the Italian Alpine Club in the province of Verona, after the over-century-old section in the city of Verona.

The establishment of a new group in Lessinia paved the way for a more evolved territorial organization of the Italian Alpine Club in the provincial area, thanks also to the opening of other sections in the following years, such as those of San Pietro in Cariano and Tregnago.

The Association has always been a small mountain section, but over the years it has accomplished great things: in addition to creating a calendar of increasingly structured activities and excursions in the area, over the years it has founded a proper Alpine and Ski Mountaineering School, after years of rock courses (offered since 1977). This is the only school of the Italian Alpine Club present in the province of Verona where both climbing and ski mountaineering activities are practiced together. Not only that... Over the years, the section has managed to trace a dense network of trails that, until 1980, had no CAI signposts anywhere in Lessinia. Today, maintenance is constantly carried out over an area of about 130 km, thanks to a group of skilled members who, with their volunteer work supported by the relevant public authorities, provide an important service for the proper enjoyment of the local mountains and the Lessinia Regional Natural Park. In 2007, the Youth Climbing activity was launched, aimed at bringing young people closer to the sectional activities. In 2016, the historic mountain choir La Frizzolana, from Bosco Chiesanuova, joined the National Choral Center of the CAI and became a full member of the section as a choral group. As of December 31, 2019, the section has 457 members.
