The first documentations about this building date back to 1584, where in a cadastral estimation there is an unknown name on the property of a farm called "Cevolara", then belonging to the district of S. Maria in Organo.
The meaning of the name derives from the origin of the work that was done here: the production, drying and trade of onions ("seole" in dialect). The onion represents also the typical mask of the Veronese carnival for the neighborhood, the "Duca della Seola", which is said, that the Ceolara was his home.
In 1900 on an official document the building is described with the name "La Cipollata".
