The church of Gazzolo d'Arcole existed since the first half of the 15th century. The new church, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Immaculate and Saint Bartholomew the Apostle, was built between 1866-68 on land ceded by Count Cavalli. In exchange, the Gazzolo community ceded to the count the land where the old church stood, which was demolished.
In 1870, the church was frescoed by Rocco Pittaco, and the altars from the previous oratory dedicated to Saint Bartholomew, the Holy Rosary, Saint Francis, Saint John the Baptist, Saint Anthony of Padua, and the Blessed Virgin Immaculate were placed within it.
In 1935, Don P. Cozza had the main altar repaired, with marble cladding for the walls, and carried out other restoration work on the church. Three years later, the new Paccagnella organ was installed. Only in 1958 the façade of the church was completed.
