This small church, located about two kilometers southwest of Soave, was also ancient and belongs to the Municipality and Parish of Soave. Dedicated to the great Doctor in the interpretation of the Holy Scriptures, St. Jerome, we know that two centuries ago it was owned by the brothers Antonio and Francesco Pagan, counts of Venice.
In 1972, it was purchased by the Veronese priest D. Giovanni Moschini, who in 1806 obtained from the Bishop of Verona permission for a Sunday Mass to be celebrated in this church for the convenience of his family and the public. Domenico Moschini, who succeeded his brother D. Giovanni in 1816, ceded the estate along with the church to Giovanni Bertani of Verona in 1834, who rebuilt it on the same site, larger and more beautiful, in 1838. Giovanni Bertani continued to have the festive Mass celebrated, founding a bequest for this purpose.
The new church, which is now too cramped for the needs of the population, is simple and devotional. In neo-classical style, it represents a combination of lines and proportions that are pleasing. The main altar, in baroque style, was built in 1735 through the generosity of D. Domenico Farinati of Alcenago. From the parish archive of Alcenago, it does not appear that Priest Farinati was the Parish Priest of that place, making the origin of the altar very uncertain.
Girardi Sante, the new owner of the church since 1921, with the support of the local population and under the guidance of D. Carlo Mantovani, had it restored and decorated by Adolfo Mattielli of Soave in 1924. The painting of Christ ascending to heaven in the apse and the highly valued canvas of the Holy Family above the main door are also the work of Mattielli.
The elegant new Baptistery was built in December 1937 by Giuseppe Savoia of Verona.
Above the church rises a small bell tower with two cheerful bells cast by the Cavadini company.
