Although historical sources do not allow us to assert it with certainty, some scholars hypothesize that the church of S. Pietro in Colle may correspond to the pieve of Caldiero, mentioned in sources since 1145 in a bull from Pope Eugene III.
Currently, based on concrete data such as morphology, construction technique, and internal pictorial decoration, it can be stated that the building belongs to the first half of the 12th century. Following the construction of the new parish church dedicated to S. Giovanni in the 16th century, the church of S. Pietro, now unable to meet the needs of the community, became a chapel. The restoration of the internal pictorial decorations from the 12th century dates back to 2002.
The building features a gabled façade facing west. On the southern side of the presbytery stands a square-shaped bell tower. The church has a plan layout of a single rectangular hall, with a presbytery raised by one step, which concludes with a semicircular apse.
Inside the church, there are two niches carved into the thickness of the wall: one on each side of the triumphal arch. Above the left niche, the remains of an ornament with ribbons bent at right angles can be seen, presenting a series of meanders in different hues (pink and green). Below the ornament, there is a fragment of an indecipherable scene (only a yellow-nimbated head is visible). In the lower niche, there is a depicted clipeate bust of the Christ Blessing, and further down is a fragment of the figure of S. Pantaleone, surrounded by a yellow nimbus, edged in white and red.
