Built in the 1960s and active until the early 2000s, the military base was part of the MIM-23 HAWK defense system managed by the Italian Army. It is a former military installation from the Cold War covering 18 hectares. Today, it is a natural area connected to the Natura 2000 Network and hosts one of the few ancient meadows of the Po Valley.
You can reach the base independently by bicycle or on foot with a walk of about 20 minutes from Piazza IV Novembre.
