Il Sentiero delle Ville del Piano e i loro Grandi Ospiti

A route partly on asphalt and partly on dirt road, surrounded by the greenery of vine cultivations. The highlight of the walk is Villa Vanzetti, which can be observed from the outside while proceeding along the Canesella path heading North.

The villa has gone through many epochs and served as a military hospital during the Napoleonic Wars, and later as a logistics center for the German occupying forces during World War II.

At the entrance of the Canesella path heading North, it is possible to deviate from the route onto Via Marconi, the "Street of Celebrities of Colognola": From Maria Spezia, the soprano who saved Giuseppe Verdi's career, to Romano Guardini, the theologian referenced by Pope Benedict XVI, the villas that follow along the street have indeed housed personalities of the highest profile, adding prestige to Colognola's past.
