An ancient path that winds along the ridge of the Lessini Mountains, used for centuries, since ancient times, for transhumance, now transformed into a new tourist route, which rises from Soave and reaches San Bortolo, in Selva di Progno. The itinerary passes through the municipalities of Soave, Cazzano, Illasi, Tregnago, Badia Calavena, and Selva di Progno.
This is a route immersed in greenery, starting from the area of classic Soave, thus from hills with intensive vine cultivation, and then reaching and crossing olive groves, cherry trees of the Tramigna valley, and the woods of Alta Lessinia. The entire Via della Lana, which alternates sections of concrete pavement and dirt road, is equipped with signage to provide directions to visitors.
This very ancient road, which climbs between broadleaf forests and numerous small streams with rushing and clear waters, was for centuries the only path that connected the people of the village and the districts of San Bortolo with the valley. From there, the transhumance passed both to the mountains for summer grazing, and back for winter pasture in the plains.
A valley rich in water, thanks to the numerous small streams that descend from the slopes of San Bortolo and the brooks.
