An ancient path that winds along the ridge of the Lessini mountains, used for centuries, since ancient times, for transhumance, now transformed into a new tourist route, which rises from Soave and reaches San Bortolo, in Selva di Progno. The itinerary crosses the municipalities of Soave, Cazzano, Illasi, Tregnago, Badia Calavena, and Selva di Progno.
It is a route immersed in greenery, starting from the area of classic Soave, thus from hills with intensive vine cultivation, then reaching and crossing olive groves, cherry trees in the Tramigna valley, and the forests of high Lessinia. The entire Via della Lana, which alternates stretches paved with concrete to white paths, is equipped with signage to provide directions for visitors.
This ancient way, which winds through broadleaf forests and numerous small streams with rushing clear waters, was for centuries the only route that connected the people of the town and the districts of San Bortolo with the valley. From there, the transhumance passed both towards the mountains for summer grazing, and back for winter pastures in the plains.
A valley rich in water, thanks to the numerous small streams that descend from the San Bortolo slope and the brooks that appear here and there in the forest.
