You start from the center of Monteforte, quickly reaching the Alpone stream, following a stretch of cycling and pedestrian path, and you ascend the valley towards Costalunga and Brognoligo.
In the fields and rural walls, dark basalt stones begin to appear: the trace of a story that began about fifty million years ago, when this part of the eastern Lessini was affected by intense volcanic activity.
In Costalunga, you come across the Church of San Brizio; in Brognoligo, Santo Stefano and the evocative Grotta di Lourdes.
Then the route enters the hilly area and leads towards Monte Castellaro, an ancient volcanic cone with stony soil. The ascent offers increasingly wider views of the Val d'Alpone, up to the first heights of the Prealps.
