Monumento alla lira

- FA_MONUMENTI_EVIDENZE_STORICHE
This is the second sculpture dedicated to the Lira, following the one installed in Rieti 10 years ago, also as part of the celebrations for the national currency.
The monument is a collaborative work gifted by the company Leatherstone of Vestenanova, made of Giallo Reale marble from Lessinia (quarries of Campofontana), donated by Orazio Nardi of Chiampo and sculpted by the Rizzardi brothers of Olimpia in Santa Maria di Zevio.
Among the candidates of Soave and Vestenanova, the latter was chosen to highlight the Giallo Reale marble from Lessinia and add value to the Val d’Alpone.
On top of the pedestal stands a double-faced coin, on one side immortalizing the Lira Tron, minted in Venice in 1472 (550 years ago) by the Republic of Venice and named after the doge of the time, Nicolò Tron; on the other side is the more familiar effigy of the Italian Lira.
