In Povegliano Veronese, the past comes back to life in the Permanent Exhibition of the Peasant Civilization of the Veneto Plain, set up inside a former agricultural warehouse. A place born with the aim of enhancing the territory and its history, offering visitors the opportunity to rediscover the rural world of their grandparents and immerse themselves in the daily life of the Veneto countryside of past centuries.

The visit route preserves tools, agricultural implements, and hundreds of objects that tell the story of the uses, trades, and habits of those who lived and worked in this area. The different sections develop along a suspended corridor that overlooks a true “square” of the agricultural world, where the evolution of technology is also narrated through the history of the tractor.

The narrative takes shape through various exhibition sections, enriched by objects, photographs, and drawings that provide an authentic image of the peasant society and its protagonists. Among the most evocative environments, one encounters the corner of the castaldo, the farm administrator, and the one dedicated to family life, next to the sections that recount ancient trades. The carpenter, el marangon, made tools and carts, while the blacksmith, often external to the farm, moved from one barn to another to carry out his work. The section dedicated to weights and measures is not lacking, with the tools used for weighing, and that devoted to sharpening blades, which recalls the profession of the knife grinder, el moleta. A special place is finally reserved for viticulture, winemaking, and bottling, activities deeply linked to the history and agricultural culture of the territory.

The exhibition is thus a true journey through time: a path to discover objects, trades, and traditions that have marked the life of the Veneto countryside and that still today contribute to narrating the identity of Povegliano Veronese.
